Limpopo Line – Documentary (40’)
The rebuilding of a key railway line from landlocked Botswana and Zimbabwe to the Port of Maputo in neighbouring Mozambique. The line has been blocked by rebels, funded and armed by South Africa, in an attempt to destabilise Frontline States’ trade. Zimbabwean soldiers join Mozambican troops to protect the first train to travel down the Limpopo Line since the destruction began. In the apocalyptic badlands of Gaza, the remains of burnt-out, overturned locomotives and coaches litter either side. The train survives an ambush, injured soldiers are offloaded and finally, the train reaches the port of Maputo. An inspiring story of collaboration and courage. But the show goes on, and after bowing to a massive ovation, he catches a lonely bus back to the township and his sleepy child.
