On the eve of the first ever democratic elections in Mozambique, the National Song and Dance Company tour the country with a new work, “Ode to Peace”, using dance to tell people who speak many different languages, that they should vote and how to do it. Interwoven with archive of the horrors of the apartheid-sponsored civil war that has just ended, the documentary moves between daily reality of the demobilisation of thousands of Mozambiquan troops from both sides of the civil war and the dance performance in different venues. Travelling on roads that have only just been de-mined, the choreography together with this film were shown and used for voter education in venues throughout Mozambique.
